IDEAL is a unique two-year program created to offer a college experience for students with intellectual disabilities.
This inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) program is based on the National Coordination Center Accreditation Standards and is designed to encourage and support students as they experience college with their peers. IDEAL students will take classes, go to sporting events, eat in the cafeteria and enjoy just being a college student—all as a part of the Lipscomb community. When students graduate from the two-year program, students earn a Certificate of Career Exploration Studies.
After completing the two-year program, students can apply for the IDEAL Advanced Program. This is an additional, optional third and fourth year focused on further increasing employment and independent living skills through working in paid employment and living in apartments off campus.
