Summer Celebration 2018 set for July 1-3

Lipscomb University will host its annual Summer Celebration entitled Mindset-Preparing God’s Family for A Secular Age, “The Message of Deuteronomy” July 1-3.

Mindset_350This year’s event is designed to prepare God’s families and faith-minded individuals for a secular age. The 2018 Summer Celebration will offer attendees the unique opportunity to study and discuss Deuteronomy in greater depth and explore Moses' last words to his people on the brink of entering a new era.

Scott Sager, vice president of church services at Lipscomb, said he has several hopes for this year’s Summer Celebration.  “All national polls agree that our culture is in a moral and spiritual decline,” he said. “It’s our hope that attendees and followers of Jesus hear the message of Deuteronomy follow the call to return to the ethical standards of a holy God and to being God’s Chosen people living differently upon the earth.”

Every summer engaging speakers from across the country gather on Lipscomb’s campus, bringing powerful and relevant messages for leaders, parents, families, and children to encourage and equip their worldview in Jesus Christ and to find Him through a developed MINDSET of faith and practice to navigate the turbulent culture wars ahead.

During the three-day event, attendees will take part in worship experiences, hundred of lectures, movie nights, book signings, thoughtful discussions and much more. Keynote speakers include Patrick Meade, Josh Graves, Hal Runkel, Kevin Owen, Rubel Shelly, Richard Barclay, Don McLaughlin, Chris Smith, Jerry Rushford and Jeff Walling.

The lectureship will also feature both a children’s program and program for teens — “Follow the Leader” — along with special late night musical performances by Keith Lancaster and Acappella, Won by One and Josh Kasinger and United Voice Worship.

Summer Celebration 2018 will end with the Bison Block Party, a free community event on Tuesday, July 3. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with the inflatable games and food vendors. Musical entertainment will begin at 7 p.m. followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. Activities will take place in the Allen Arena Mall area.
