Family studies professor discusses startling marriage statistics on Channel 5

Janel Shoun |

Census numbers released Tuesday showed that for the first time, married couples are in the minority in Tennessee, and Nashville Channel 5 reporter Kim Gebbia came to Lipscomb University’s John Conger, chair of the department of family and consumer sciences, to learn about why marriage statistics are declining.

Conger told the press that marriage is definitely not on the way out, but it’s under a lot of pressure from economic and demographic forces.
