Steps To Apply:
The School of Music at Lipscomb University requires an audition for entry. You must do the following for consideration and acceptance.
Complete and submit the university application for admission.
Complete and submit a School of Music application / audition form. Auditions are held on selected audition dates.
Audition for the School of Music. The applicant will need to follow the School of Music Audition Guidelines for their respective program, included below.
***Due to COVID restrictions, video submissions for the November 6th audition date will serve as your actual audition, for both entry into the program and scholarships. The date you choose on the School of Music application will be for a virtual interview via Zoom, no additional performance will be required.***
Audition videos should be uploaded to YouTube, set to ‘public’ or ‘unlisted' so our faculty will be able to view them. Your video does not have to be professionally recorded. A good, clear cell phone video is just fine!
Please send your YouTube links to: firstname.lastname@example.org. After your material is reviewed by our faculty, an interview may be requested.
Every student who desires to be a music major must pass the entry-level audition in their applied area. If a student does not pass their initial audition they may enroll as a provisional music major and take elective lessons for up to one year, in an attempt to successfully pass this audition. If a student is unable to pass this audition after one year, they can no longer hold provisional status within the School of Music.
If you are interested in auditioning for the vocal group, Sanctuary, please complete this application as well.
Interview dates are as follows:
Saturday, November 6, 2021 (video audition/Zoom interview)
Saturday, January 22, 2022 (hope to be in person)
Saturday, February 5, 2022 (hope to be in person)
Saturday, March 26, 2022 (hope to be in person)
Zoom interviews will be held for those that pass the audition process, but please be aware that scholarship decisions will be made based on your performances in these videos, so put your best foot forward.
School of Music scholarships are merit-based and may often be added to other scholarships, depending on the student’s overall financial aid package.
Current students who are not receiving scholarships, or who wish to apply for scholarship consideration in a different performance area, may contact the coordinator for their performance area to request an audition.
The Lipscomb School of Music is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Without an arrangement of release, member schools of NASM are not allowed to accept students on scholarship who have previously accepted scholarships from another member school. Please let us know about any other music scholarships you have had.
