Through Lipscomb University's participation in the Dual Enrollment Grant Program offered through the State of Tennessee, taking a dual enrollment course while a student at a Tennessee high school is likely tuition-free, provided that students qualify and complete the necessary grant paperwork on time, and meet all eligibility requirements.
Students are allowed to take up to two courses per semester during their junior and senior years. To correctly complete the application, students MUST select Lipscomb University as the “institution granting credit”—not the school they plan to attend once they graduate high school. If applicants fill out and submit the grant application incorrectly, they will NOT receive any grant funding. Students should only apply for the Dual Enrollment Grant once each academic year.
The dual enrollment student is also responsible for submitting the dual enrollment grant application by the state-mandated deadline (Sept. 15 for the fall semester or Feb. 1 for the spring semester).
Students who are not eligible to receive the grant money are responsible for payment in full of all charges incurred by participation in the dual enrollment program. Students must also maintain a university 2.75 GPA in order to continue to be eligible for the dual enrollment grant.
This grant pays $554.40 toward classes one through five. It then pays $184.80 per credit hour for courses 6 through 10. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is necessary to keep the TN Dual Enrollment Grant.

Lipscomb faculty teach all dual enrollment courses. All faculty are required to have a graduate degree and a minimum of 18 units of coursework in their respective area of expertise.
In an effort to ensure transferability to other institutions, Lipscomb’s dual enrollment program only offers courses that we are confident will transfer elsewhere.
We do not recommend dual enrollment students take more than two dual enrollment courses per semester as part of the dual enrollment program. The Dual Enrollment Grant will cover no more than 10 dual enrollment courses during high school.
