News - Nursing NCLEX Pass Rate

Lipscomb’s Class of 2018 marks the fourth class of Bachelor of Nursing graduates to resoundingly beat the 85 percent national average first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination. The 97.3 percent first-time pass rate for Lipscomb’s Class of 2018 is the highest rate within the last three record years, which all produced pass rates higher than the national average.

The NCLEX is a nationwide examination for the licensing of nurses in the United States and Canada.

The streak of strong first-time pass rates began after more rigorous academic standards were enacted in the School of Nursing in the 2015-16 school year. New elements added to the program included expanded simulation lab hours, new teaching technology, increased accountability with raised skills performance check-offs, a new NCLEX review course and a faculty mentorship program for every junior and senior student.

“We are very proud of our 2018 graduates in passing the NCLEX nursing licensure exam,” said Ruth Corey, executive director of the School of Nursing. “In doing so, they have validated the mission of the Lipscomb School of Nursing: to build baccalaureate prepared nurses to be leaders providing services to humanity as evidenced by quality and compassionate care that is focused on the holistic needs of patients and their families in the community.”
