Lipscomb University’s College of Business has been named one of ten undergraduate business schools in the nation to watch in 2020 by Poets & Quants for Undergrads, the leading online publication for undergraduate business education news.

Joining Lipscomb University’s College of Business in the top undergraduate business schools to watch are Bucknell University, Freeman College of Management; Carnegie Mellon University, Tepper School of Business; Hult International Business School; New York University, Stern School of Business; Northeastern University, D’Amore-McKim School of Business; University of Evansville, Schroeder School of Business; University of Michigan, Ross School of Business; University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flagler Business School; and University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School. This is Lipscomb’s debut on the watch list.

“It is great to see that we are no longer a best kept secret,” said Ray Eldridge, dean of the College of Business. “The staff and faculty are intentionally focused on our mission. They are committed to the pursuit of excellence and this is reaping rewards for our students, alumni and the university community. We are committed to making the College of Business even better through our constant innovation and business engagement.”

In an article released this morning by Poets & Quants for Undergrads, the organization cited Lipscomb’s focus on instilling in students from an early stage an entrepreneurial spirit.

“At Lipscomb University, students learn business by starting their own companies as freshmen. At the same time, they experience the connection between business and society by supporting entrepreneurs in the community,” the article states. “In fact, the program is so entrepreneurial that it kicks off with an Introduction to Entrepreneurship course where student teams build their own businesses. Later on, many students head out into the community to help fledgling entrepreneurs launch their businesses. Such activities reveal the true purpose of the program, where business is a mission to create a positive and lasting social impact in the local community…and far beyond.”
