Interviewing at Lipscomb

You’ve secured an interview at one of your top choices for pharmacy school. Now what? In the days or weeks leading up to the interview, you’ll likely hear (or tell yourself) that there is nothing to be worried about. You could get tired of hearing the classic “don’t be nervous, just be yourself.” This phrase may be slightly overused, but it is no less true. We want to meet the real you, not just your accomplishments or grades.

Virtual Interviews

For the time being, we have switched to online interview days. The global pandemic definitely tried to throw us and our interview process for a loop, but we didn’t let that happen. After rewriting communications and adapting our schedule to an online format, we established our new interview process within a week of the first shutdown. Now, students can interview at Lipscomb even if they live hundreds of miles away. You will even be able to take a virtual tour of the college, thanks to the efforts of William Smitherman, a film student here at Lipscomb.

Getting Ready

When preparing for your interview day, there are a few things you’ll want to keep in mind. First, make sure to show up for your interview day on time. We’ve had students who are in different time zones log in to the Zoom session or arrive on campus (when that was an option) almost an hour early. On the other hand, showing up late can negatively affect the schedule of events for the rest of the day. You should present yourself in a professional manner. This might mean picking out that interview outfit ahead of time, thinking of insightful questions to ask, and even having a notepad and pen ready to take notes.

How the Day Will Go

Your day begins with the admissions team introducing themselves and explaining their roles in the college. Our director, Laura Ward, will then ask the candidates to introduce themselves. Be prepared to state your name, hometown, and where you are in your academic journey. After that, Mrs. Ward will give a brief, general presentation about the college. Throughout the day, you will learn a lot about the pharmacy program here. Our small class sizes, fantastic mentorship program, and Nashville’s thriving healthcare environment are just a few of the reasons our students are so successful.

During the rest of your time with us, you will get to meet not only the other interviewing candidates, but the college’s admissions staff, select members of our faculty, and current students. With several planned activities, your day with us is sure to be informative and hopefully, a fun experience. Our goal is to make you feel at home, even if you are miles away from Lipscomb.
