Amy and her husband Randy are both alumni of Lipscomb University, although they did not meet there. Amy taught high school at a local Christian school for a brief time and then went back to graduate school. After earning her doctorate in mathematics from Vanderbilt, Amy returned to Lipscomb to teach. She and Randy have two sons and one spoiled cat.
