Carlie Woodroof is originally from San Jose, California. She earned her bachelor of science in nursing degree from Oklahoma City University in 2016 and her master of science in nursing education degree from Azusa Pacific University in 2022.
Prior to transitioning to this role at Lipscomb University, she spent the last five years in bedside nursing. Woodroof started her nursing journey at the University of Washington in adult oncology, and eventually moved to Nashville to be closer to family and spent the last several years caring for the pediatric hematology and oncology population at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. She is a certified pediatric hematology and oncology nurse through the ONCC.
Woodroof has a passion for the pediatric oncology population in particular because of her own history of cancer in her teenage years. Throughout time in nursing practice her passion has evolved to include mentorship for new nurses, utilization of simulation in nursing education, as well as clinical education for student nurses.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, trying new coffee shops, and spending time with her husband and chocolate lab Cooper.
