Biography

Byron E. Turkett is an Associate Professor and the Director, Clinical Education of the PA Studies Program. Mr. Turkett holds a Master's Degree in PA Studies from the University of Nebraska with his initial PA training being completed at the Cook County Hospital-City College of Chicago PA Program in 1995. He comes to Lipscomb with over 25 years of experience as a PA, practicing primarily in general surgery, trauma, emergency, and critical care medicine. He has been involved in PA academics since 2009 serving as principal faculty, director of clinical education, founding PA program director, and associate program director. Mr. Turkett served in the US Army Reserve for 8 years as an Aeronautical (flight surgeon) PA and deployed to the middle east as a part of Operation Iraqi/Enduring freedom. He was awarded a Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal for his service. Although his focus is to prepare the next generation to receive the PA healthcare torch, he continues to enjoy practicing his first passion, the art, and science of medicine
