Biography

Barry Stephens, D.Min., is an Adjunct Professor in the Institute for Conflict Management at Lipscomb University where he has taught the Conflict in Religious Settings and Readings courses since 2012. He recently retired from a 40+ year ministry career during which he served churches in Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Oklahoma.

For the past twenty-three years, he served as the Senior Minister with the Monterey Church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas. Prior to his ministry in Lubbock, he preached for the White’s Ferry Road church in West Monroe, Louisiana for seven years, and for the Columbia Avenue church in Glasgow, Kentucky for nine years.

Since 2000, Stephens has also been a Part-Time Instructor at Lubbock Christian University, teaching graduate courses in Church Leadership, Conflict Management, and Preaching. He has spoken on programs at Pepperdine University, Abilene Christian University, Lipscomb University, and Freed-Hardeman University. He has also conducted leadership seminars or consulted with churches in several states and foreign countries, including Kenya, Germany, Mexico, and Venezuela.
