Biography

Allison Provine Johnston received her Bachelor of Science in Education and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Samford University. She then went on to complete a pharmacy practice residency at Emory Healthcare and a pediatric specialty residency at the University of Chicago Medicine. While completing her residencies, she earned a certificate of teaching from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Mercer University. Johnston joined the faculty at Lipscomb University in July of 2012 when she also became the pharmacy course director for the Vanderbilt Program in Interprofessional Learning (VPIL), an innovative educational program designed to train health care providers to meet the challenges of the 21st century. In addition to her leadership role within VPIL, Johnston has an established clinical practice site at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, where she provides pharmaceutical care on an interprofessional medical team to children in the hospital. Johnston is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and a Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist. She teaches the pediatric curriculum within the College of Pharmacy and serves as a preceptor for fourth year pharmacy students completing their Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences.
