Biography

Dr. Laura Morrow is the Director of Collaborative Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives for the Center for Teaching and Learning and Associate Professor of Management at Lipscomb University. Morrow began her career as faculty in the College of Business at Lipscomb before moving to Atlanta with her family. During this time, she held various administrative faculty positions including those of department chair and program director for business and leadership programs at Brenau University and Mercer University in Georgia. She also led leadership development programs for external clients during her tenure with Mercer. While in Georgia, she was chosen as a Governor’s Teaching Fellow at the University of Georgia’s Institute of Higher Education where she developed a passion for pursuing teaching and learning initiatives.

Back at Lipscomb as assistant director, she is an enthusiastic member of the team and is directly involved in CTL initiatives to support faculty teaching and enhance student success. While contributing to the Center's efforts, she draws from both her depth of academic knowledge in organizational behavior and her breadth of teaching experience. She has worked with students ranging from rising high school seniors to graduate students and adult learners returning to college. She has taught in a variety of settings, including study abroad experiences, online courses, experiential contexts, traditional classrooms, and within a prison setting.

Morrow has her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Management and Master of Business Administration from Lipscomb University University and her Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management. She has earned a Certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace from the University of South Florida and holds a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt from Mercer University.

Dr. Morrow’s research focuses on stress in the workplace and related organizational outcomes. Her most current work explores phenomena related to workplace stigmas experienced by survivors of cancer. Her discipline-specific research in the field of organizational behavior and human resource management lends itself to complementary work on topics such as the impact of course design on stress and the role of learning as a coping mechanism in the stress process.
