Biography

Dr. Rebecca Claypool brings more than twenty years of interdisciplinary industry experience in recreation, fitness, and health professions to her role as a faculty member at Lipscomb University. Her professional impact outside of academia includes non-profit work in fitness direction and consultation for members of special populations, individual and group fitness training, youth camp programming, and substance misuse education and prevention. Before coming to Lipscomb, Dr. Claypool taught undergraduate university courses in a community and public health program. Her general research interests include the exploration of social determinants of health with a specific focus on the development of trauma-informed care among exercise professionals. Dr. Claypool is a Certified Personal Trainer with both the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE). She is also ACE certified as a Group Fitness Instructor and Health Coach. Dr. Claypool lives in Middle Tennessee with her husband and their two teenage children.
