Biography

T. Brian Cavitt is currently an Associate Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Lipscomb University. He earned his B.S. in Chemistry and Missions from Abilene Christian University in 1998 and his Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering with a minor in Chemistry from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2002. Upon completing his Ph.D., Cavitt joined the faculty at his alma mater earning tenure, teaching for 13 years, and having been awarded Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year in 2014. He joined the faculty at Lipscomb University in 2015 where he pursues research focused on surface and coatings chemistry including clay-polymer composite materials, surface free energy analyses, and predictive modeling of coatings formulations. Professionally, Cavitt has served as a member of the Board of Directors for RadTech International, North America and co-editor-in-chief of The RadTech Report, a trade publication focused on applications of energy curable technologies and materials. He has also served as a visiting professor at Yangtze University in Jingzhou, Hubei in China.
