Trustee Scholarship

Each year, a select number of incoming freshmen are awarded this prestigious full-tuition scholarship through an interview and application process.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply for this scholarship, you must have scored a:

  • 30 or higher on the ACT
  • 1360 or better on the SAT

    OR
  • a 92 or higher on the CLT, including superscores

Additionally, applicants must have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.5 through the 2021-2022 school year, weighted GPAs will be considered. If you receive this scholarship, you are required to live on campus and maintain a GPA of 3.25 or better. This scholarship is not stackable with any other institutional aid. Students who apply to the university as test optional must submit an official test score to be eligible for this scholarship.

How to Apply 

The application for fall 2024 will open October 16, 2023. The application submission deadline is January 9, 2024. Students must be admitted to the university prior to applying. 

Application

  • Résumé - A one-page résumé outlining your education, leadership through school, church involvement, work experience and community involvement, and any noteworthy honors or achievements. Your résumé will be evaluated on content and professionalism.

  • Essay - Respond to the following prompt, which will allow us to assess your ability to interact with a topic thoughtfully, think critically and write clearly for a public audience. Please limit your response to 500 words.

    • The strategic vision for Lipscomb University, known as Impact 360, includes values we strive to center as an institution, values we hope you foster during your time as a Lipscomb student. They are expressed as imperatives below:
      • Respect All
      • Pursue Joy
      • Embrace Collaboration
      • Create Solutions
    • Choose one of those imperatives and 1) relate a situation in which you displayed it or learned its importance, then 2) describe how you envision cultivating that value in yourself and your community while at Lipscomb.
  • Personal Video - A one to two-minute video telling us a little about yourself and why you are interested in attending Lipscomb. The video will be created and recorded within your Bison Portal and will not be evaluated on production quality, but should focus on you as a person.

Interview

Once we have received and reviewed your application, select Trustee Scholarship applicants will complete an interview with several members of the selection committee, made up of Lipscomb faculty, staff and current students. Interviews will take place January 19, January 26 and February 24. Interview dates and times will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so submit your application materials as soon as possible and check your email to secure your preferred date. All interviews will be conducted in person.

Why did you choose Lipscomb?
I knew I wanted to be in a Christ-centered community at a liberal-arts college. After touring Lipscomb, I fell in love with the campus and knew I could definitely see myself here. Every faculty member I met genuinely cared about me and the students seemed so genuine and caring.

I chose Lipscomb because of its uniqueness compared to other schools. When I first walked on campus, I knew it was different. The professors who introduced themselves to me already cared about me before even being enrolled. That one-on-one relationship between students and professors was something I really valued and I saw that Lipscomb did too.

What is your favorite Lipscomb memory so far?
My favorite memory at Lipscomb was the entirety of Quest Week! I loved being immersed in a new environment, getting to know campus, exploring Nashville, and meeting some of my best friends! Lipscomb is so intentional about creating opportunities like this for its students to get to know one another and make memories that will last forever!

What is your favorite Lipscomb memory so far?
One of my favorite memories I've made so far was my first gospel choir practice. I love singing in the choir. It was something I really enjoyed in high school. Being in the choir is such an amazing time. In the midst of a busy week, without any distractions, we spend two hours just worshiping God with our voices.

What is your favorite Lipscomb memory so far?
My favorite memory so far at Lipscomb would have to be the Bell Tower Social during QuestWeek. I had the best rolled ice cream of my life from one of the various options of dessert trucks. The laughs I shared with my friends that night were some of the best ever. The whole atmosphere that night was just very special.

What is your favorite Lipscomb memory so far?
I haven't been at Lipscomb for too long, but I absolutely love being here and I love all of the students. I have never been in a place with such a variety of fascinating, artistic and welcoming individuals. The events that Student Life organizes from the Boot Scootin' dance to Wednesday Nights We Eat to Quest Week in general have been amazing.

My favorite Lipscomb memory so far is taking the paddleboards from the Student Activities Center, going to Percy Priest lake and jumping off of the tall rocks into the lake after paddleboarding to them.

My favorite memory at Lipscomb is playing “Known” by Tauren Wells for the Freshman Talent Show during Quest Week. I got to meet a bunch of incredibly talented people, and I even ended up winning the show!

My parents are alumni, so I've grown up visiting Lipscomb with my family. Because I attended public schools growing up, I was really craving an environment where I could study the Bible in an educational setting and connect with my teachers and peers spiritually. During my first tour of Lipscomb, I felt that I had found where God wanted me to be.

What is your favorite Lipscomb memory so far?
Starting clinical rotations this semester has been a blast. I have loved seeing how my peers have been highly supportive of one another as we enter into the highly anticipated and intimidating practical portion of our training. Even on the first clinical day, it was evident that engaging in new experiences together was strengthening our group camaraderie. It has reminded me of how blessed I am to be a part of such a wonderful group of peers who are constantly working to lift up one another.

Originally, I thought I wanted to go anywhere else, but as soon as I gave Lipscomb a chance, I realized how great this community is.
