L. Randolph Lowry III
Connecting the university to the Nashville community is a hallmark of L. Randolph Lowry’s presidency at Lipscomb University. He views the city of Nashville as the university’s campus and the world as its classroom.
Since his arrival on campus as the university’s 17th president in September 2005, Lowry led the Lipscomb community through Lipscomb 2010, a $54 million plan that dramatically advanced the institution’s academic programs and campus facilities, including establishing Middle Tennessee’s first College of Pharmacy. He also launched seven institutes designed to not only offer academic programs but to also serve the community through their programs and services. Recently, Lowry announced Lipscomb 2016, an initiative to invest $125 million by the university’s 125th anniversary in 2016. Under Lowry’s leadership, the university has experienced a 81 percent enrollment growth.
In addition to his reputation for education innovation, Lowry is also one of the nation’s leading experts in the dispute resolution field. W. Craig Bledsoe
Supplying students with the practical tools for life and career through the university’s academic program is at the core of Provost W. Craig Bledsoe’s daily activity as Lipscomb University’s chief academic officer. Since 1997, Bledsoe has boldly led the expansion and innovation of the university’s academic program. Under his leadership, the university has expanded to seven colleges that offer eight bachelor’s degrees in 78 majors or 145 areas of undergraduate study, several pre-professional programs and an accelerated adult degree program as well as 25 master’s degrees, four education specialist degrees and three doctorate degrees in 58 fields of study.

Susan Coomer Galbreath
Senior Vice President for Strategy
Helping students realize their potential is a passion for Susan Galbreath. A certified public accountant, Galbreath now serves as Senior Vice President for Strategy. She recently served in the Office of the Provost as Vice Provost for Academic and Financial Affairs. In addition to this role, she served as special assistant to the president.
Galbreath provides vision and leadership for academic budgets; directs academic strategic initiatives, including Summer Programs, Wintermester and community college partnerships; and is responsible for the Center for Teaching and Learning which provides faculty with training and support for teaching excellence. Galbreath served as interim dean in the College of Business from Jun. 2004 - Dec, 2005 and from Aug. 2007 - Mar. 2008.
A veteran educator, Galbreath was on the faculty at Tennessee Technological University and East Carolina University prior to coming to Lipscomb. She has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Tennessee Technological University and a Master of Accountancy and the Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Senior Vice President for Student Life
We know that the university experience includes much more than just classroom learning. Scott McDowell is passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for spiritual formation as well as a memorable campus life experience for students. As senior vice president for student life, McDowell oversees campus life, chapel, student activities, campus security and safety, veterans services, residence life, intercultural development, freshmen orientation and career development teams among other responsibilities.

Deby K. Samuels
Senior Vice President for University Communication and Marketing
Just like a person, the university has an image and personality. Deby Samuels, senior vice president for marketing and communication, is the champion of that image and personality as she leads the university’s public relations, media relations, strategic and crisis communication, publications, graphic design, web, social media, photography, advertising, marketing and writing services.
Samuels is a veteran marketer in Nashville and brings a broad range of communications and marketing experience to the position including leadership roles in both the agency and corporate environments to the university. Danny H. Taylor
Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration
We know that planning for a strong future for Lipscomb involves visionary planning for the institution’s finances. Danny Taylor helps the institution plan for its next as the institution’s chief financial officer.
Taylor joined the Lipscomb administration in November 2000. A certified public accountant with nearly 30 years of experience, Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and Bachelor of Arts degree in speech from Western Kentucky University. He leads Lipscomb’s financial affairs, accounting services, endowment accounting, campus services, physical plant, human resources, payroll and rental properties areas. Senior Development Counsel
As senior development counsel, Dale Armstrong collaborates with the development team on campaign planning and strategy, partners with university administration on major donor relations initiatives and provides leadership for major fundraising programs for athletics and the academy.
A graduate of Lipscomb University, Armstrong brings with him nearly 20 years of experience in development and has led successful campaigns of up to $30 million for more than 50 organizations. For the past 12 years, Armstrong has served as vice president for Dickerson and Associates, a development firm based in Colorado. During that time, he led successful capital campaigns for Christian schools and colleges in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas. Vice President for Alumni Relations
For more than 20 years, Phil Ellenburg has been a part of Lipscomb University’s administrative team. Ellenburg joined the university staff in January 1994, serving as general counsel and overseeing the university’s legal affairs, risk management, campus safety and government relations programs. In addition to his work with the campus master plan and the Industrial Revenue Bonds, Ellenburg is credited with assisting the university and Lipscomb Academy in developing a number of capital projects, creating the Office of Risk Management, significantly upgrading the university’s emergency preparedness and response plan, and navigating the legal aspect of the university athletics program’s transition from NAIA to NCAA competition among other accomplishments.
In February 2013, Ellenburg was appointed president of Middle Tennessee Christian School (MTCS), a preK-12 school affiliated with the Churches of Christ located in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Ellenburg returned to Lipscomb in January 2016 as vice president for alumni relations.
A native of Merritt Island, Fla., Ellenburg earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Lipscomb University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky. Prior to his tenure at Lipscomb, Ellenburg practiced in the Nashville firm of Watkins, McGugin, McNeilly & Rowan. He is a member of the Tennessee and Nashville Bar Associations, as well as the National Association for College and University Attorneys. He is admitted to practice before all courts in Tennessee, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Supreme Court and is a frequent speaker on general legal matters facing primary and secondary schools and institutions of higher education.
Greg J. Glenn
Head of School, Lipscomb Academy
Longtime school administrator and education veteran, Greg J. Glenn was appointed Lipscomb Academy head of school in April 2014. Glenn Glenn holds a graduate degree in curriculum and instruction and leads an academy leadership team that includes the elementary, middle and high school principals as well as other administrative personnel. Prior to joining the academy, Glenn was the head of school at Westbury Christian School in Houston, Texas, a position he held from 2007-2014. Prior to that appointment, he served the school as a faculty member, athletic director and varsity boys’ basketball coach for 14 years. Glenn also has prior experience on the faculty of Montgomery Academy, in Montgomery, Ala., where he also served as varsity boys’ basketball coach. Prior to that, he was on faculty at Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tenn., and at Lakeland High School in Lakeland, Fla.

Vice President and Chief Information Officer
We believe that technology is a vital aspect of a university community. Veteran information technology expert Mike Green is Lipscomb chief information officer. He infuses his experience with some of the largest technology companies in the country into the Lipscomb program and continually seeks to keep the university on the cutting edge of technology.
Before coming to Lipscomb, Green was chief operating officer for PROFORMANCE Inc. and served as senior director of IT for Hewlett Packard overseeing the Americas Region Services IT organization. He also served as the IT director of internet systems, CRM systems, and corporate testing and release management for corporate services at HP. Green also served as a consulting practice director for Andersen Consulting, Digital Equipment Corporation, DSC Communications and has worked in defense systems at the Oak Ridge National Labs and E-Systems. He was also on faculty at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. He has a Master of Science in computer science from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Mississippi State University. Vice President for Enrollment Management
First impressions are important in any business, and that is no exception at Lipscomb. And the start to any undergraduate’s experience begins long before they step on campus for the first day of classes. Rick Holaway oversees the new student enrollment for undergraduates. He is passionate about working with students and their families as students make one of their first “big choices” in life—where to go to college. But it doesn’t end there. His passion for following student’s lives as they grow, mature and one-day graduate is—in the end—what his team is all about.
Holaway, a graduate of Lipscomb University, has increased undergraduate enrollment for the university by 25 percent since he took the helm in 2004. In the same time period, he increased first-time freshman enrollment by 39 percent—this during a time of economic downturn and increased unrest in higher education. The Bison athletics program is a vital part of campus life. Athletic Director Philip Hutcheson has a unique perspective on the program as a former standout on the men’s basketball team. Since October 2008, Hutcheson has guided the department as it has expanded its offerings and has become a competitive force in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The university fields 17 men’s and women’s teams and competes in the NCAA Division I.
As a member of the Bison basketball team from 1986-1990, Hutcheson attracted national attention as he broke college basketball’s all-time scoring record, scoring 4,106 points during his career. Hutcheson’s record was broken four years later by fellow Bison John Pierce, whose record remains unbroken. Hutcheson was named the 1990 NAIA Player of the Year, was named All-American for four years and is a member of the Lipscomb and Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame among numerous other honors. Hutcheson began his career playing professional basketball for the Music City Jammers in Nashville and later for a team in Manchester, England. Hutcheson returned to Nashville and began working in management at Sessions Paving Company in Nashville in 1997. Hutcheson has been heavily involved in the Nashville community. A 1999 alumnus of Leadership Nashville, Hutcheson has served on boards for the Green Hills YMCA and the Nashville Zoo.

Vice President for University Relations
Each year tens of thousands of guests visit the Lipscomb campus for a variety of non-athletic events. Walt Leaver leads a tireless team of event managers and planners as well as entertainment and technical services experts who help make these events top-quality for on campus and community clients.
Leaver, a member of the administrative team since 1994, is instrumental in developing relationships with organizations in the community and in partnering with them for signature university events such as the Nashville Business Breakfast, Lighting of the Green with Amy Grant and Friends, and the Charlie Daniels Scholarship for Heroes concert that helps provide scholarships for the university’s student veterans. Vice President for Development and External Affairs
John Lowry is vice president for development and external affairs. As such, he manages the university’s fundraising activity as well as community involvement. Lowry also serves as executive director of Spark, Lipscomb’s technology-rich, off-campus learning and community/corporate meeting location in Williamson County. Lowry has a Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law, a bachelor’s degree from Pepperdine University and a master’s degree from Abilene Christian University. He also has completed graduate work in dispute resolution at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law and in public policy at California State University, Sacramento.

Vice President for Church Services
Spiritual formation and serving churches are at the heart of Lipscomb University. Scott Sager knows that a university has many resources to help guide students, faculty and staff, alumni, friends and others as they seek to develop and claim their faith and that a Christian institution can provide valuable resources to churches across the country. Since July 2011, Sager has strategically reached out to and served numerous churches as vice president for church services. Prior to joining the administrative team, Sager served for 15 years as senior minister of the Preston Road Church of Christ in Dallas, giving him a unique understanding of the interworking and needs of churches. He also is on faculty in the College of Bible and Ministry. Under his leadership, Summer Celebration, the university’s annual Bible lectures, has had record attendance and participation.
Sager serves on the board of the Christian Relief Fund where his focus is on supporting AIDS orphans in Africa. In Dallas, he serves on the board of Christ’s Family Ministries, a fully functioning health clinic he founded that serves the working poor and is located inside the Preston Road Church of Christ building.
Sager earned a D.Min. in evangelism from Southern Methodist University and is an Abilene Christian University alumnus, having earned an undergraduate degree in business management as well as a master's degrees in Bible and divinity. David Wilson joined the Lipscomb administration as general counsel in May 2014. Prior to that, Wilson was partner at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, L.P., where he practiced from 1998 to 2014, and has expertise in corporate governance, business transactions and securities law among other specialties. He has advised private and public companies as well as nonprofit organizations on corporate governance and compliance issues. Prior to that assignment, Wilson was a senior research engineer at AlliedSignal Aerospace Corporate in South Bend, Ind., where he designed a new carbon-carbon brake for the Boeing 777 aircraft and led a research program that partnered with a team of engineering students from the University of Notre Dame.
In addition to his professional work, Wilson donates his expertise and time as he works with several nonprofit organizations. He is board member and president of Made in the Streets, a mission effort in Nairobi, Kenya, that serves up to 100 former street children from the slums in that city. During a six-month sabbatical spanning 2004 and 2005, Wilson lived in Nairobi where he was a tutor for children served by Made in the Streets. Wilson is also board member and secretary for the Nashville-based Living Water Project, an initiative to raise funds for, support and construct clean water projects for communities in impoverished areas of the world.
The Terre Haute, Ind., native has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the Vanderbilt University School of Law.
