Student Care Emergency Fund

The spirit of this funding is primarily to support students financial wellness and personal wellbeing in emergency circumstances. The goal is to help prevent an unexpected hardship to jeopardize a students academic journey. This fund is intended to be a supplemental financial resource when students are unable to meet immediate and essential expenses due to unexpected, unforeseen, and unavoidable circumstances. The funding is awarded on a case by case basis up to $300, but in extenuating circumstances, the Dean may make an exception, but no more than $500 will be gifted. Upon receival of funding the fund will be taxed as income.  All requests are handled in a private manner through the Lipscomb University Office of Student Wellbeing.

Student Care Emergency Fund Application

Examples of possible expenses covered:

  • Groceries
  • Homelessness or sudden loss of housing
  • Rent or essential utilities (electric, gas, water)
  • Natural disasters
  • Safety needs

Example of expenses not covered:

  • Tuition, fees, health insurance
  • Non-essential bills such as credit cards, cable, cell phone, etc
  • Parking tickets, legal fees, fines, or other preventable expenses
  • Standardized testing and application fee

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled as a student to receive funds
  • Have an immediate financial need resulting from an emergency, accident, or other unexpected critical incident
  • Applicant has utilized other available resources and funding options

Giving

The number of students who benefit from this fund is dependent upon the availability of funds. This Student Care Emergency Fund is funded through donations from the Lipscomb community. By donating to this fund you are ultimately supporting a student in achieving their academic goals and bringing hope into their difficult circumstances.
