Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA) exists to give you, the student, a voice in what happens at Lipscomb University! SGA helps sustain the spirit and morale of students, serves as an advocate for the concerns of those students, and serves as a catalyst for students' academic, social, and spiritual growth, while promoting the Christian values and principles of the university.
The students on SGA work closely with the faculty and staff of Lipscomb University to enhance the student’s experience. Past student involvement has helped make Lipscomb an environment that is not only educational, but enjoyable. SGA determines most events Lipscomb clubs and organizations coordinate. The diverse body of members on SGA help promote and decide what activities and changes happen on campus.
Membership for SGA is open to all students who are dedicated, responsible, and have a desire for involvement and personal growth. The SGA is composed of thirty-two members: five senators from each class, eight from the student body-at-large, and four executive officers that complete the senate. The purposes of the SGA are to promote all phases of student life and to ensure a communication link between the student body and the university administration.
There are four committees on SGA that focus on different aspects of the university: Academic, Spiritual, Social, and Communication. All of these committees ensure that the members of SGA are working hard to enhance every interest of our student body. Some of the events and happenings sponsored by SGA in the past consist of:
- Paint the Herd
- Tau Phi Cowboy Show
- Campus Ministry Retreats
- Theatre Tickets
- Athletic Events
- Stomp Fest
- Partnership with SAB on Schoolwide Events
- Monthly student activities
The Student Government Association holds their Senate Meetings every other Monday during the semester at 7:30PM in Club 1891 by the Mezzanine area of Bennett Campus Center. All are welcome to attend.
You may contact your SGA representatives at any time at 615.966.5941 or e-mail them at firstname.lastname@example.org. The SGA office is located on the lower level of the Bennett Campus Center.
