Lipscomb University provides classes and courses of study which are designed to prepare students for admission to medically-related professional programs such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, optometry, physician assistant, veterinary medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, medical technology, and dental hygiene programs.

The pre-health care advisory program at Lipscomb has an excellent reputation.  Our past graduates have enjoyed high acceptance rates to medically-related professional schools and, more importantly, have received outstanding preparation for those programs.  While students pursuing pre-professional health care preparation may major in any department in the university, certain prerequisite courses from the areas of biology, chemistry, and physics must be satisfactorily completed.  The quality of this foundational coursework is ensured by the university's long history of strong academic departments in the sciences.

 Current Students

Students interested in pursuing careers in health care should register with the Health Professions Advisory Center to receive information about speakers, recruiters, job/shadowing opportunities, and other resources available to them.  Our office is located in the Ward Building, rooms 327-330.

 Health Professions Advisory Committee

Lipscomb University has a Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC), composed of faculty teaching in the sciences and other academic areas on campus.  The committee offers advising and interviews for students planning to apply to medically-related professional programs and writes letters of recommendation to those programs.  Students interested in interviewing with the committee must be registered with the Health Professions Advisory Center and complete an interview packet.  In general, interviews should be completed one year prior to intended matriculation at a professional school.
