Chris Taylor, a veteran higher education administrator, was recently appointed assistant vice president for constituency fundraising in Lipscomb University’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

In this role, Taylor will manage the university’s constituency fundraisers in athletics, the College of Business and the College of Pharmacy.

“Chris comes to Lipscomb with a significant amount of experience working with major fundraising campaigns at top research and health sciences institutions. He was extremely successful in fundraising at the medical center for the University of Florida’s $1 billion campaign and the University of Kentucky’s Health Science Center campaign in the late 1990s and early to mid 2000s. He brings his commitment to supporting a Christian education to work at Lipscomb University. As we expand our program offerings in the colleges of pharmacy, engineering, arts and sciences and business, Chris’s experience will be valuable in garnishing philanthropic support for those programs, “said Bennie Harris, vice president for development and alumni relations.

Taylor brings more than 16 years of fundraising experience to Lipscomb through his work with the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center, the University of Kentucky, the University of Florida and Washington State University. Prior to his appointment at Lipscomb, Taylor was the senior director of major gifts at the University of Louisville’s College of Business. During his tenure he managed the increase in overall fundraising for the U of L College of Business from $1.2 million to $5.1 million over a three-year period.

During his career, Taylor also successfully secured $2 million in support of endowed faculty positions across various units at the University of Kentucky including Medicine, Nursing, Engineering and Business; raised over $2 million in annual fund gifts within two years for the University of Florida College of Medicine in support of student scholarships; and assisted in developing the first Corporate Associates Program at Washington State University. This program was initiated in the Edward R. Murrow School of Communications in the College of Liberal Arts.

“I’m looking forward to utilizing my diverse background and experiences in university advancement in support of major fundraising initiatives here at Lipscomb,” said Taylor. “Lipscomb gives me an opportunity to combine my professional experience with my faith. This is a great environment and feels like a very natural fit for me.”

Taylor said he has several goals for his work at Lipscomb. He said he hopes to create greater awareness of the unique, exciting and competitive program offerings of the university, to raise funds for student scholarships and endowed faculty positions, and to reconnect and reengage alumni who are passionate about the history and future of the institution.

Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from the University of Idaho and an executive certificate in medical management from the University of Kentucky.
