Kate Sullivan Watkins is an Assistant Professor in the college, partnering with students as they participate in Bible and Theology courses. Watkins’ strives to inspire students to look for the work of God not only in the sacred text but in each person they encounter. As the director of the LIFE Program, Lipscomb Initiative for Education, Watkins joins the college team and university faculty to bring together traditional students and students who reside at the TN Prison for Women, through education. Courses are taught at the prison each semester.

Watkins graduated from Lipscomb University with her degrees in Elementary Education, Masters of Divinity, and Doctorate of Ministry. Her doctoral emphasis is in spiritual and missional formation and she is a certified spiritual director.

Before coming to professional studies, Watkins worked as the academic program director for the Doctorate of Ministry and spent 20 years working with a non-profit counseling organization, offering spiritual support to clients. As an elementary educator, she published several children’s books and contributed a chapter to a high school textbook for the state of Nevada.
