Student Companies Comments

Ben Parker -- Jacobs Technology Systems

My time at JTS was filled with great experiences. I was given the opportunity to be an active part of the company's business, web development, and software testing; I was also able to create a C# application that JTS is using today. I feel I have gained useful "real-world" knowledge that will be beneficial as I begin my career in the technology field.

Joshua Asres -- Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art

So far I have been responsible for sourcing software solutions for various company initiatives, assisting in maintenance and upkeep of the servers (hardware & virtualized), and troubleshooting issues with the network environment (routers, switches, VOIP, etc).

Since I have only been in the internship a few weeks I can only speak of my experience in a limited capacity but so far I have found it to be a very enriching experience. Finally being able to apply many things I learned in my classes and applying them in a real workplace environment has been an invaluable experience.

Baylee Thurdmond -- Adventure Science Center

I helped with whatever the people needed me to do and worked within the IT department.

Christopher Hebert -- Digital Reasoning

As a Software Engineering Intern at Digital Reasoning, I designed and implemented a proof of concept for using a streaming variation (one message at a time, in real time) of the pre-existing batch-processing framework (100 million messages at once, accumulated over the past month), which performs natural language processing (NLP), entity-extraction (who and what are talked about in the message and how they relate), and categorization of unstructured text. I worked as part of the product development team and coordinated closely with senior architects and junior engineers alike.

Connor Austin -- American Music Channel

As a junior developer, I was had to do MySQL database modification, stylistic changes and front end changes through Joomla's GUI but primarily back end & front end changes using PHP.
