Department of Security

Department of Security works 24/7/365 to maintain a safe and secure environment on the campuses of both the university and the academy.

Lipscomb prioritizes creating a safe environment for students, faculty, staff and guests. As such, we have many procedures and measures in place to ensure our goal.

Highly trained security officers continuously patrol all of Lipscomb’s campuses and events. Most security personnel wear a uniform but all carry credentials and are happy to present them for confirmation upon request. Whether day or night, in marked vehicles or on foot, officers are always close by.

Many key campus locations are under officer-monitored camera surveillance at all times from the dispatch office located in the basement of the Beaman Library. The department’s administrative offices are also located in the basement of Beaman.

Our security force is trained on an annual basis in such areas as terrorism, patrol techniques, defensive tactics, interviewing, firearms and state law. A majority of security staff hold college degrees, while many have significant prior police and/or military experience in addition to personal skills and talents they bring to the job.

Please review our pages regarding emergency alert systems, how to report an incident, the annual crime report and other resources for specific details on how Lipscomb supports the safety of our campus.

In case of an incident, call the Department of Security at 615.966.7600 or use a Blue Emergency Call Box located in all major areas of campus. For immediate emergencies, call 9-1-1.
