Lipscomb University alumni and their families are invited to be a part of HerdComing 2013, an annual gathering of the Bison herd Oct. 1-7.
The weeklong celebration is designed as an opportunity for alumni and their families to gather on campus to fellowship, to see how the campus has changed since they graduated and to enjoy a variety of special activities.
“No matter where our alumni go once they leave Lipscomb, they will always be Bisons,” said Rhonda Minton, director of alumni programs. “The university has experienced some exciting changes in the past few years, and the time has come to re-introduce an event specifically designated as a gathering of our Bison herd. HerdComing is the time for all Bison to come home to Lipscomb each year. There are a number of activities planned for the week that will give alumni the chance to see some of the exciting things taking place on campus today.”
HerdComing highlights include
- reunion gatherings for the classes of 2003, 1988 and 1963 and the Golden Circle
- a Golden Bison luncheon
- social club reunions
- a 5K run
- a dessert reception with current and retired faculty
- Lady Bison volleyball and soccer games
- a Fall Fest with games for children
- College of Pharmacy Golf Slam
- a theater production
- live music, the Tau Phi Cowboy Show and much more.
In addition, Family Weekend will coincide with HerdComing. Family Weekend is a special weekend for families of current students to visit campus, participate in games and other HerdComing activities and enjoy the annual pancake breakfast hosted by President and Mrs. Lowry.
A preview day for high school students is set for Oct. 4. Students will have the opportunity to sit in on a class, talk to current students, meet professors, visit dorms and take a campus tour.
