Lipscomb student heads to Washington to meet with Obama

Sophomore Matt Brown will head to the nation’s capital this weekend for a series of meetings and events that is scheduled to include a meeting in the White House with President Barack Obama.
As the national chief of the Boy Scouts of America’s honor society, the National Order of the Arrow, Brown will present the Boy Scout’s 2013 Report to the Nation to Obama next week in the Oval Office.
"It hasn't totally sunk in yet, but it is something I am very excited about.Not many of my peers will be able to say they have been to the Oval Office," said Brown adding, "It is really exciting to know that I am meeting the leader of our nation."
During his visit to Washington Feb. 23-28, Brown will also meet with other congressional leaders including Rep. John Boehner, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Harry Reid. He will also meet with the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, take a behind-the-scenes tour of Arlington Cemetery and participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown among many other activities.
Brown, an Eagle Scout, has been involved in scouting his entire life. He was voted into the national chief position in December and is spending the year travelling across the United States representing the Boy Scouts.
