Make-A-Wish surprise for Rayan Abidi

On Wednesday, April 16, more than 70 members of Pi Delta social club made 3-year-old cancer patient Rayan Abidi’s dream vacation to Disney World a reality through a project coordinated with the Make-A-Wish organization. They raised more than $7,500 to make Rayan’s wish come true through a variety of fundraisers including a Cocoa and Carols event in December and have received donations from each club member, other students, faculty, staff, alumni, family and friends.

Members of Pi Delta dress up as characters from Up for their movie-themed stop on the treasure hunt. Rayan encountered Captain Hook and some pirates (aka - Pi Delta members) in one stop on his treasure hunt. Rayan, along with his mom, dad and older brother, enjoyed five stops along the treasure hunt path. Three-year-old Rayan Abidi was diagnosed with cancer when he was 10-months old. He was excited to learn that his dream came true! Novrrdine Abidi and his son, Rayan, enjoy the festivities April 16 on campus. Rayan learned that his dream to go to Disney World on vacation came true when he opened a treasure chest and found Mickey Mouse ears with his name on them. Recent Lipscomb grad and Pi Delta member Camille Fraser, a cancer survivor and former wish recipient, had her dream come true to grant a child's wish. More than 70 members of Pi Delta social club spent months raising money and planning for the Abidi family surprise.
