Composition Workshop with Timothy C. Takach
Wednesday, Jan. 29
Timothy C. Takach, featured composer at the Men's Choral Festival and singer for professional group Cantus, will conduct a workshop on the Lipscomb campus, including sessions on choosing texts, harmonization, arranging for varying ensembles and skill levels and music clinics with the Lipscomb High School Concert Chorus and the Lipscomb University ChamberMen ensemble.
Reviewed as “gorgeous” by the Washington Post and “stunning” by the Lawrence Journal-World, the music of Takach is rapidly gaining momentum in the concert world. Applauded for his melodic lines and rich, intriguing harmonies, Takach has received a number of commissions from numerous organizations including the St. Olaf Choir, Cantus, Pavia Winds and the Bowling Green State University Men’s Chorus.
Takach studied music composition with Timothy Mahr and Peter Hamlin at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., where he received a BA and graduated with honors. He now lives in Minneapolis and sings with the professional male vocal ensemble, Cantus. As a singer with Cantus, Takach gives over 80 concerts a year and has had his works performed in concert halls across the United States, Canada and Europe.
The sessions are free and open to the public.
