Lipscomb University’s School of Music has been recognized as one of the top in the country by SuccessfulStudent.org, which recently released its list of the top 25 programs in the country.

In addition to Lipscomb’s School of Music, housed in the George Shinn College of Entertainment & the Arts, other institutions on the top 25 list include The Juilliard School, Curtis Institute of Music, the New England Conservatory of Music, Berklee College of Music, the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music, the Oberlin Conservatory, the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music and Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music among others.

“We are honored to be included on this list of the top music programs in the country,” said Mike Fernandez, dean of Lipscomb’s George Shinn College of Entertainment & the Arts. “Being included in the listing with some of the most prestigious institutions is a reflection of the quality of Lipscomb’s program as well as the strength of our new initiatives and of our faculty. We are preparing our students to be successful in the workplace once they leave our campus.”

“The past year has been an exciting one for the School of Music with huge overall growth, new ensembles and our partnership with the Sound Emporium and so much more,” said Charlie Peacock, Grammy Award-winning and founding director of the university’s contemporary music program. “Inclusion on this list though is a reflection of our dedicated faculty and years of their hard work building the music program, giving it the forward momentum it has today.”

According to SuccessfulStudent.org this ranking is considered from the student’s point of view, taking items in education that would be important to students.

This is the latest honor for Lipscomb University’s School of Music. Earlier this month, Fernandez was selected as a member of Leadership Music’s Class of 2018. Fernandez is one of 49 industry leaders from across the country selected for Leadership Music’s 29th class. In May, Lipscomb University was given the historic Sound Emporium, one of Nashville’s vibrant recording studios for nearly 50 years, to provide valuable experiences and resources for students in the School of Music.
