Shacklett named finalist for Nashville Business Journal's 2014 Women of Influence

Lisa Shacklett, assistant dean of marketing and enrollment in Lipscomb University’s College of Business, has been named a finalist in the Nashville Business Journal’s 2014 Women of Influence awards.

Lisa ShacklettAs one of 41 Women of Influence finalists out of hundreds nominated, and one of seven in the “company manager” category, Shacklett was honored at a luncheon Feb. 11 and was profiled in the Feb. 14 edition of the Nashville Business Journal.

“This honor is a reflection of the university’s quality, its impact in the community and the hard work that faculty and staff have invested in making this a top-quality institution,” said Shacklett. “It is quite an honor to be recognized along with other leaders who have had an impact on this community.”

Under Shacklett’s leadership, enrollment in Lipscomb’s graduate business programs has increased 250 percent in the last five years. She develops, implements and executes the marketing, advertising and recruiting strategies for four graduate business programs at Lipscomb. She is also a member of the college’s leadership team and involved in the strategic planning process. Prior to her role in the College of Business, Shacklett led the university’s Career Development Center.

“Lisa has done a fantastic job of marketing and recruiting new students for our graduate business programs,” said Joe Ivey, associate dean of graduate business. “In this highly competitive market, she has used a unique blend of up to date marketing techniques with a strong personal touch to stand out from our competitors. We definitely would not have enjoyed our recent success without her leadership.”

Shacklett who has an undergraduate degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from Lipscomb University, began her career as an account executive at Cellular One, where she opened the first carrier-owned cell phone store in the country. She also was on the start up team that launched Sprint PCS in Nashville in 1997. Shacklett has been very involved with CABLE’s Women on Corporate initiative among other community organizations.
