Williams appointed associate vice president for development

Williams will manage the university’s major gift and planned giving fundraising initiatives and assist with coordination of constituency-based fundraising strategies.

His expertise in locating potential sources for philanthropic support will be a valuable asset to our development team’s commitment and initiatives to support a Christian education. I look forward to his leadership at Lipscomb,” Harris said.

 

Williams, a Certified Financial Planner® professional, comes to Lipscomb after serving as associate vice president for university advancement at Freed-Hardeman University (FHU) in Henderson, Tenn. Williams was instrumental in the successful completion of FHU’s $80 million “Beyond Believe” campaign, including obtaining more than $47 million in endowment expectancies. His fundraising experience includes personally raising nearly $1 million annually from 2005 to 2010 and leading his division to raise nearly $4.4 million in revenue each year for the university’s annual and endowment funds.

 

Prior to his appointment as associate vice president at FHU, Williams served as director of the university’s Center for Estate and Gift Planning. Prior to that, he worked as a financial planner and brokerage accountant for Wachovia Securities in Charlotte, N.C.

Williams’ professional activities include serving as director of Clayton Bank in Henderson and as president of the Planned Giving Council of Greater Memphis. He also is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Jackson, a Jackson Chamber of Commerce program. At FHU, Williams was an adjunct professor in the School of Business and a member of the university president’s Advisory Board. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association and Partners in Philanthropic Planning.

 

Williams holds a bachelor of business administration degree from FHU and a master of science in financial planning from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colo.
