Glenn McCadams to be inducted into 2014 TSSAA Hall of Fame

Glenn McCadams, Lipscomb Academy’s longtime head football coach who died March 21, 2013, following a brief illness, will be inducted into the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Hall of Fame.
McCadams is one of eight inductees to be added to the TSSAA Hall of Fame in a ceremony April 5 in Murfreesboro.
“This honor recognizes Coach McCadams’ tremendous impact across the state both as a coach who produced winning teams as well as teams that developed young men of integrity and character,” said Mike Roller, Lipscomb Academy athletic director. “It is also a great honor for Lipscomb Academy and reflects on its quality and tradition of excellence.”
McCadams coached the Mustangs for 31 years. Under McCadams’ leadership, the Mustangs won three state championships. In 2008, McCadams was named the State of Tennessee High School Football Coach of the Year. His total career wins ranked him among the leaders statewide for the most number of wins among active head coaches as well as all-time most victories for a head coach.
McCadams began his career as an assistant coach at Milan High School in 1969. After nine years at Milan, McCadams became the head football coach at neighboring Trenton Peabody High School in 1978 and was there for four seasons, compiling a 31-12 record. On June 1, 1982, McCadams came to David Lipscomb High School as the director of athletics and head football coach.
The 2012 season marked McCadams’ 44th year coaching high school football and his 31st season at the helm of the Lipscomb Academy football program. During his tenure, McCadams won more than 75 percent of his games, with his teams averaging nine wins per year including the regular season and playoffs. McCadams held an overall career mark of 319-112 as a head coach.
In addition, McCadams established and served on the board of directors for the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association and served as the vice president of the Football Coaches Association. He also served as a TSSAA region coordinator.
Others who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame with McCadams are Gary Householder, administrator, Seymour; Chic Nute, administrator, Munford; Randy King, coach, Murfreesboro; Ken Colquette, coach, Jasper; Melvin Black, official, Nashville; Marvin Doggett, official, Cordova; and the late Willie Brown, contributor, Nashville.
