“This honor recognizes Coach McCadams’ tremendous impact across the state both as a coach who produced winning teams as well as teams that developed young men of integrity and character,” said Mike Roller, Lipscomb Academy athletic director. “It is also a great honor for Lipscomb Academy and reflects on its quality and tradition of excellence.”

McCadams coached the Mustangs for 31 years. Under McCadams’ leadership, the Mustangs won three state championships. In 2008, McCadams was named the State of Tennessee High School Football Coach of the Year. On June 1, 1982, McCadams came to David Lipscomb High School as the director of athletics and head football coach.

The 2012 season marked McCadams’ 44th year coaching high school football and his 31st season at the helm of the Lipscomb Academy football program. During his tenure, McCadams won more than 75 percent of his games, with his teams averaging nine wins per year including the regular season and playoffs. McCadams held an overall career mark of 319-112 as a head coach.

In addition, McCadams established and served on the board of directors for the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association and served as the vice president of the Football Coaches Association. He also served as a TSSAA region coordinator.
