One of the many benefits of studying at Lipscomb University is living in Nashville.

Affectionately known as Music City for its vibrant music scene and historic venues such as the Grand Ole Opry and Ryman Auditorium, Nashville is a byproduct an even larger city culture: a community of transplants extremely driven by a desire to create.

As one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, Nashville is home to thriving health care, music, entertainment, technology and finance industries. In Jan. 2013, The New York Times declared Nashville the “It” city, and was recently named one of the top 15 best places to live in America by U.S. News & World Report

And Lipscomb is at the heart of it all.

With a mission to equip students for their future and a heart to invest in the local community, Lipscomb gives students direct access to incredible internship and service-learning opportunities that will open doors for them after college.

In fact, students within Lipscomb’s Raymond B. Jones College of Engineering and College of Business are offered jobs and internships by places like Nissan, Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon and Bridgestone, while other students in the School of Nursing are spending close to 600 hours of hands-on clinical training in local facilities like Vanderbilt Medical Center, TriStar Centennial Medical Center and Williamson County Medical Center. And are doing so in the foundational areas of nursing such as obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health, critical care and medical/surgical.

But this is only a glimpse. Lipscomb students are training in some of today’s leading businesses and are gaining experience in numerous industries that will equip them for their future career.

As L. Randolph Lowry, Lipscomb’s 17th president, often says, “the city is our classroom, the world is our campus,” so as a result, students are launched from their classrooms into Nashville’s dynamic city as well as into the world.

But not only is Nashville a great place to learn, it is also a great place to live!

With one of the best music scenes in the U.S., three professional sports teams, world-class museums, plenty of dining options and miles and miles of hiking and biking trails – all within minutes of Lipscomb’s campus – students are always at the center of something new and exciting.
