New York Times best-selling author Chip Heath to speak at downtown Spark location Oct. 25

Lipscomb University presents New York Times best-selling author Chip Heath, professor at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, at its new downtown Spark location on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Heath will speak about his new book, The Power of Moments.
Heath’s presentation will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. at Spark, located at 147 4th Avenue North, Nashville. Tickets are $50 and includes validated parking, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a copy of Heath’s book. A book signing will follow the presentation. Seating is limited. During his presentation, Heath will delve into an array of “mysteries” covered in his newest release that include why individuals tend to remember the best or worst moment of an experience, as well as the last moment, and forget the rest; why “we feel most comfortable when things are certain, but we feel most alive when they’re not;” and why our most cherished memories are clustered into a brief period during our youth.
Heath is also the co-author of Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die (2007), Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard(2010), and Decisive: How to Make Better Choices in Life and Work (2013). Heath is the Thrive Foundation for Youth Professor of Organizational Behavior in the Stanford Graduate School of Business. His research examines why certain ideas - ranging from urban legends to folk medical cures, from Chicken Soup for the Soul stories to business strategy myths — survive and prosper in the social marketplace of ideas. He holds a doctorate in psychology from Stanford and a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Texas A&M University.
