Lipscomb Athletics to induct eight members into Hall of Fame

The Lipscomb University Athletics department recently announced the addition of eight new members to the department’s Hall of Fame. The 2017 honorees are: Lynn Randolph Dearing (Women’s Basketball), Erin Hall Fletcher (Softball), Mark French (Meritorious Service), Deborah Spencer Garner (Women’s Basketball), Kelli Dobbins Hasley (Softball), Andy McQueen (Men’s Basketball), Katherine Neely Murrie (Women’s Golf) and Kenyatta Perry (Men’s Basketball).

"In recent years, Lipscomb Athletics has elevated its programs competitively, academically and spiritually,” said Lipscomb director of athletics Philip Hutcheson. “Today's teams owe a debt of gratitude to so many who came before them to help lay the foundation for the heights now reached. 

“These most recent eight inductees into Lipscomb Athletics' Hall of Fame are certainly some of those upon whose shoulders today's teams stand and we are thankful for the opportunity to honor them. Beyond their athletic accomplishments, which are numerous, it is so gratifying to see how each of them have continued to excel as members of the respective communities of which they are now a part. This is truly a group of which all Lipscomb fans may be proud and we are looking forward to honoring each of them during our Homecoming weekend."

Lynn Randolph Dearing – 1992-96

  • Finished her career with 1,492 points and 593 rebounds, both numbers are top-10 in the NAIA era
  • Helped lead the Lady Bisons to four consecutive trips to the NAIA National Tournament including a national championship game in 1994 and Final Four appearances in 1995 and 1996

Erin Hall Fletcher– 1997-2000 

  • Two-time NAIA All-American (1999, 2000)
  • Four-time All-Conference selection (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000)
  • Four-time All-Region selection (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000)
  • Two-time Transouth Conference Pitcher of the Year (1997, 1999)
  • NAIA Region Co-Pitcher of the Year (1998)
  • All-time career leader in wins (111)
  • All-time career leader in ERA (1.06)

Mark French

  • Avid supporter as a member of the National Bison Club for all sports at Lipscomb for over 40 years.
  • Season ticket holder for 30-plus years.
  • Former color analyst for the Lipscomb Sports Network
  • Lipscomb basketball letterman

Deborah Spencer Garner – 1988-92

  • Ranks eighth in the NAIA era in scoring with 1,494
  • Member of the first Lady Bisons team to win a conference championship in 1989
  • Member of the first Lipscomb squad to advance to the national tournament in 1990
  • All-Conference selection in 1991
  • Member of the Huntsville-Madison Co. Alabama Athletic Hall of Fame

Kelli Dobbins Hasley – 1998-2001

  • Two-time NAIA All-American (1998, 1999)
  • NAIA Region Player of the Year (1998)
  • Two-time Transouth Conference Player of the Year (1998, 2000)
  • All-time career leader in batting average (.421)
  • All-time career RBI leader (184)
  • Tied for all-time career hits (265)

Andy McQueen – 1990-94 

  • Holds college basketball’s all-time record for 3-pointers made with 515 breaking the previous mark of 467
  • Ranks fourth on the all-time scoring chart for the Bisons with 2,319 points
  • Helped lead the Bisons to a 124-22 mark in his four seasons as a Bison

 Katherine Neely Murrie – 2000-03 

  • 2001 NAIA National Champion
  • 2001 All-American

 Kenyatta Perry – 1993-97 

  • Two-time NAIA All-American (1996-1997)
  • Ranks fifth on the all-time scoring chart for the Bisons with 2,118 points
  • Helped lead the Bisons to a 122-25 record in his four seasons on campus
