Every Tuesday morning, the Lipscomb University community comes together at The Gathering, the student body's weekly chapel service, to worship, pray and encourage one another to become more like Christ; and oftentimes, the Chapel Office will invite speakers to share a unique message of faith.

On Tuesday, Sept. 12, Levi Lusko, lead pastor of Fresh Life Church, author and the founder of the Skull Church and the O2 Experience, will join The Gathering as the featured speaker. The Gathering will begin at 10:55 a.m. in Allen Arena, and is free and open to the public.

As pastor of Fresh Life Church, which is a multi-city church in Montana and Utah that was pioneered by Lusko and his wife Jennie in 2007, Lusko travels internationally to share the Gospel of Jesus and teach the Bible in ways that are easy to understand. He is also the author of the bestselling book, “Through the Eyes of the Lion,” and his most recent book, “Swipe Right: The Life-and-Death Power of Sex and Romance,” that was released in Feb. 2017.

Sam Smith, dean of Student Life, says he was very encouraged after meeting and hearing Pastor Lusko speak over a year ago, and has since been working with Lusko’s team, as well as with Paragon Structural Engineering in Plano, Texas, to help bring Pastor Lusko to campus.

“We are elated to welcome Pastor Levi Lusko to campus to speak to not only to our Lipscomb community, but also to the Nashville community at our weekly Gathering,” said Smith. “As a pastor and best-selling author, Pastor Lusko has a unique ability to connect the Gospel message and the truth of Scripture with today’s generation of college students. He is passionate, encouraging and an unbelievable wordsmith when it comes to his calling. I am excited to hear him share a message with our community.

“We are also very grateful for our friends at Paragon Structural Engineering who made a very generous donation to help bring Pastor Lusko to Lipscomb next week. This would not be possible without their gracious support.”

Following The Gathering, Lusko will also participate in a Q&A session in Stowe Hall, which is located in Swang Hall, room 108.

“Pastor Lusko is not only a dynamic speaker, but desires for individuals to ‘make the name of Jesus famous,’ and we pray that our students are encouraged during their time with Lusko,” Smith continued.

In addition to being a pastor and author, Lusko is also the founder of Skull Church, a free community worship event that features music by the Skull Church band and a message by Lusko, as well as the O2 Experience, an worship event that presents a fresh perspective on life, death, sex and romance.
