What is Sigma Alpha Iota?

Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) is an international music fraternity for women whose mission is to encourage, nurture and support the art of music. Over 120,000 members have been initiated nationwide.

Do I have to be a music major or minor?

No, many past and present members participate in music outside of their major area.

Am I eligible?

You are if you have: 

1. Completed at least one semester at Lipscomb University 
2. Completed at least one hour of credit in music 
3. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above

Can I be in a social club and in SAI?

Yes, the ladies of SAI are well-rounded. Some of them are highly active in other organizations on campus.

What does SAI do?

We are involved in several service activities such as raising money for our fraternity’s philanthropic projects, performing at nursing homes, and helping young Girl Scouts earn their music badge. We serve the School of Music, as well, by handing out programs at concerts.What are some of the social aspects of the fraternity?We have one group social gathering per month and other sisterhood activities. Each fall the Nashville Alumnae Chapter hosts a brunch for the area SAI collegiate chapters and in the spring we all gather together at Province Day.
