The middle school counselor is responsible for academic scheduling, standardized testing, and working with the social, emotional, and academic concerns of the middle school student. Lipscomb Academy has chosen to use the Committee for the Children curriculum called Second Step to help students learn about empathy, assertiveness, communication, perspective taking, emotion management, and other important social skills. The guidance counselor visits the classrooms to teach this curriculum. In addition to classroom guidance, individual sessions are available for students at the request of teachers, parents, and students to address needs that are specific to the student.
