International Travel and Outreach Opportunities

Lipscomb University’s Institute for Law, Justice & Society assists in the global community. By helping one better understand the goals of the United States and other international governments, programs aim to advance important social and legal causes.

EU and You

This European study program is an undergraduate three-credit hour course designed to change your outlook on life and deepen your understanding of international politics, history, business, law, and justice. By experiencing four nations' cultures, you will return to the United States with a global perspective that reflects your broadened horizons.

Women in the Law

In many countries with developing democracies, women are discouraged from or not allowed to practice as legal professionals. Working in conjunction with NGOs in these regions, the Institute for Law, Justice & Society identifies women interested in developing themselves as legal professionals. Each year, the Institute sponsors 15 women on an all-expenses paid trip to the United States for an intensive two-week skills training and mentorship seminar designed to give these women the tools necessary to advance their legal careers. Each woman is mentored by a prominent female attorney or judge from the U.S. Although this relationship is fostered during the two-week seminar, the mentors pledge to provide support once the women return to their native country.

International Rule of Law Training Programs

By working with young people in several countries plagued by social unrest, the Institute for Law, Justice & Society provides a “train the trainer” type program to help students teach other students about basic legal principles. The program also includes instructions on how to peacefully resolve disputes.
