After Care Kits

LIPSCOMB VOLUNTEERS ARE INVITED TO ASSEMBLE AFTER CARE KITS AT A SPECIAL EVENT IN BISON SQUARE OCT. 17.

Studies show that sexual assault is an issue that impacts students at colleges and universities across the country. On Thursday, Oct. 17, the Lipscomb community will have a unique opportunity to learn more about sexual assault, how to be prepared, what to do if you are a victim and how bystanders can help with Fear 2 Freedom Hour to Empower. The event is sponsored by Lipscomb’s Title IX office and Lipscomb Athletics.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. in Shamblin Theatre with a presentation to educate and create awareness. Volunteers will then head to Bison Square to put together F2F Aftercare Kits for both children and adults.

Representatives from various community groups, including the Metro Nashville Police Department, will be on hand, as well as an ambulance, which will take the F2F kits to Nashville Sexual Assault Center and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. These kits will be distributed to victims of dating, domestic and sexual violence. They provide encouragement and allow patients to leave exams with hope and dignity,

Knowing what to do as a victim or a bystander creates a safer environment. The goal of Fear 2 Freedom is to empower students around the country to change the culture of sexual assault and restore the joy of victims. Young adults who openly say “this is wrong” can be leaders on college campuses and after graduation.

Free pizza and chapel credit is available for students. Everyone in the Lipscomb community is invited and encouraged to be a part of this special event.
