Lipscomb Session Players is composed of students from the orchestra, wind ensemble and commercial ensembles.

Born on October 19, 1991 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, singer/songwriter Colton Dixon first caught the public's attention on season 11 of American Idol. The guitar-playing, golden-maned Dixon's soaring vocals and upfront spirituality connected with audiences enough to secure a seventh-place finish, and it didn't take long for the charismatic rocker to land a record deal. The resulting A Messenger, his debut for Sparrow Records, was released in 2013 and quickly rose to #15 on the Billboard Top 200 and #1 on the Christian Album chart. With newly raised stakes, he fared similarly well with his 2014 follow-up, Anchor which also topped the Christian chart and featured the hit single "More of You." Tours with major artists like TobyMac, Third Day, and Casting Crowns helped increase his profile as a popular concert act. In 2015, Dixon released The Calm Before the Storm, an album which combined two previously released EP's: the all-acoustic Calm and a set of remixes called Storm. Early in 2017, Dixon released the single "All That Matters," a preface to his third full album Identity, which was released by Sparrow that March.

A lyrical and emotive performer, Nashville-based Cody Fry is a gifted singer/songwriter whose music touches upon soulful pop, jazz, electronics, and orchestral balladry. A native of Northfield, Illinois, Fry grew up in a creative family with a father who wrote commercial jingles for a living. By his teens, he was writing and recording his own songs, and ultimately went on to study music at Nashville's Belmont University. Graduating in 2012, he released his debut album, Audio: Cinema, and spent several years as a backing musician for other artists. A second album, Keswick, followed in 2014, after which he made it into the early audition rounds on the 14th season of American Idol. Although he received positive feedback from the judges, he failed to make the Top 20 finalists. Nonetheless, the exposure helped build his fan base, and in 2017 he returned with his third solo album, Flying, featuring the single "Nobody But You." The album found Fry drawing upon his love of film scoring and coloring his songs with full orchestration.
