On Friday, Feb. 8 at  3 p.m, the biology department will host a biology seminar with guest speaker Dr. Deborah Lannigan,  Dr. Lannigan is an associate professor of Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology, Cancer Biology and Cell & Developmental Biology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

"My laboratory focuses on signaling pathways that are involved in mammary gland homeostasis and breast cancer," said Dr. Lannigan. "Cancer cells frequently hijack pathways used during development. Therefore, by studying normal organogenesis it is possible to identify novel therapeutic opportunities for the treatment of breast cancer. To facilitate these studies we have developed a novel organotypic model system using living normal breast and breast cancer tissue."

This event is free and open to the public.
