Mary Sledge joined the Biology Department in 2006. She has a B.S. in Botany and a Ph.D. in Crop Molecular Genetics. She teaches Ecology, Conservation of Natural Resources, Scientific Communication, and The Molecular Basis of Aging.
Recent research at Lipscomb has focused on the relationship between autophagy and aging in the model species Nothobranchius kothausae. Her previous research involved the development of genetic maps for the crop plant alfalfa. When not working, she enjoys hiking and camping, mystery novels, and traveling.
