Full-Time EAP Program

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program is for students whose first language is not English and who want to improve academic English for university.

For international students whose first language is not English, we offer a dynamic, full-time intensive English program on our beautiful Nashville campus. We believe our program is unique, allowing you to improve your academic English whilst fully participating in campus life. If you are an international student requiring an I-20 / student visa to study in the United States, you must participate in the EAP Program on a full-time basis.

Our faculty and instructors are fully qualified in the field of teaching English to speakers of other languages (ESOL), holding advanced degrees and qualifications in TESOL, ELL or ESL, and skilled in using effective teaching strategies.

Certificate in English for Academic Purposes

Students who participate in EAP on a full-time basis are in a non-degree, certificate program. Upon completion of the full-time program requirements, the university will issue a Certificate in English for Academic Purposes.

Academic Support On Campus

We want you to be successful in your academic goals. We will give you the support and resources you will need to develop strong academic language skills through EAP’s specialized courses and academic advising. For academic support outside the classroom, the Academic Success Center (ASC) on campus can help you by providing academic coaching, peer tutoring, collaborative study spaces, and The Writing Studio. Additionally, you have the opportunity to be paired with a student and/or faculty member as a conversation partner each semester.

Courses

We offer three levels of intensive English courses - intermediate to advanced. Students are typically placed in one level of courses. Some students may be placed in a particular course based on assessment scores so that they can receive an appropriate level of support.
