Bachelor of Social Work
Do you like working with people? Are you interested in facilitating difficult situations and dealing with problems? Would you like to help make the world a better place? If so, you should consider getting your Bachelor’s degree with Lipscomb’s Department of Social Work and Sociology.
The Department of Social Work and Sociology offers a specialized Social Work major that prepares students to enter the field as entry-level, generalist social workers, or to go on to pursue graduate education. By the time of graduation, Lipscomb Social Work majors will have completed over 500 hours of supervised Field Practicum work. This kind of hands-on experience prepares graduates to solve problems and succeed in jobs that seek to improve the quality of life of others.
Lipscomb’s Social Work Department is a member of both the North American Association of Christian Social Workers (NACSW) and the National Association of Social Workers in Tennessee (NASWTN). Lipscomb’s Social Work Program is also accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
Lipscomb’s CSWE-accredited status makes academically strong graduates eligible for admission into Advanced Standing programs at the MSW level, meaning that Social Work graduates can earn a Master’s in Social Work within just one year after completing their education at Lipscomb University.
