Lipscomb Academy is excited to announce Bryan Van Vleet as the school’s new strength and conditioning coach.
Van Vleet, who has 16 years coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels, joins Lipscomb Academy after most recently working as director of strength and conditioning at The Ensworth School. In addition to his experience helping student-athletes in the weight room, he has been a speaker at national strength and conditioning conferences, designed and oversaw the renovation of a 10,000-square-foot weight room, trained five Mr. Football award winners, one Mr. Basketball winner and 47 NFL draft picks.
“Without question, Bryan has an exceptional track record of helping student-athletes perform at the highest physical levels,” said Lipscomb Academy Athletic Director Dr. Mike Roller. “I look forward to the balance of experience and passion he will bring to the Mustang Athletic Program.”
Van Vleet began his coaching career in 2001 at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In 2005, he accepted the head strength and conditioning position at The McCallie School in Chattanooga. During his 6 years at McCallie, the school produced 10 state championship teams. He continued his career at The Ensworth School in 2011, where he served as the director of strength and conditioning and was part of 10 state championship teams in six years.
“I am very excited about the support I have already received from Lipscomb Academy and the passion to build a top strength and conditioning program,” said Van Vleet. “To build a successful strength program from top to bottom, it is crucial to have the complete support of the school and student athletes.”
Van Vleet has strong connections to Lipscomb Academy, having attended both the middle and high school before finishing his high school education in his hometown of Springfield. His sister and brother both attended Lipscomb Academy and his aunt, Karen Luther, is a retired Lipscomb teacher. He and his wife, Kelly, met as 8th graders. The couple has been married for 16 years and has a rising 5th grade daughter, Aspen. Van Vleet received his undergraduate degree from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville and his Master Degree in Exercise Science from Tennessee Tech.
