Dr. Dwight Tays has been teaching at Lipscomb since 1985. His areas of academic specialization include American government, public law and public administration. In the past, he has been the Chair of the Department of History, Politics and Philosophy, the President of the Tennessee Political Science Association, on the Board of Visitors of Abilene Christian University, Abilene, TX, on the Academic Advisory Committee for the Tennessee Legislative Internship Program, a Co-chair of the Membership Committee of the American Society for Public Administration, Middle Tennessee Chapter, on the Board of Directors for Nashville Christian School, and employed as a Pre-Law Advisor. Dr. Tays has many article publications on a variety of political topics. He has also presented several papers in political meetings. He is also presently involved in research and professional inquiry, including accessing the legal status of Indian Nations within the U.S. political system, empirical application of theoretical concepts of presidential decision making, and formulating policy and administrative recommendations at the state level. He also provides a political consulting service.
