How do I find my textbooks?
Your class schedule is the key to quickly finding the right books. Classes are listed with the department first, then course, and finally the section. For example: AC 3303 01 (DEPT COURSE SECTION)
Our text shelves are arranged in alphabetical order by department, starting with AC (for Accounting) in the back corner of the store and snaking through the alphabet from left to right. Within each department, shelf tags are arranged in order by the course number, and then by section number. Just locate the shelf tag with the class number you are looking for; the required books (and any other optional ones) are listed on the tag. The books should be right there, above the tag and to the right. Any books that won't fit on the for-foot shelf section should be on the shelf below. (If you don't find a class you are looking for, check the tag in that department that lists the classes that do not require any texts.)

Can I save money with used books?
Whenever possible, we stock used books for price savings. Used books are priced at 25% off the new book price.
Back to Questions
What if I need a refund?
Be sure to keep your receipt in case you need to return anything. We will be happy to give a full refund as long as we are within the first two weeks of classes (one week for summer and accelerated terms) and you have that all-important receipt.
Back to Questions
Does the bookstore buy back textbooks from students?
We buy back used textbooks year-round. These are not refunds, but rather the bookstore turning to current students as our first choice to purchase needed books. The price we can offer is determined by need. If we need a given book to sell on our shelves, we offer half of the purchase price. If the book is not being used in a future term, or if we already have too many, then we offer whatever our national wholesaler will offer. Either way, it's a great chance to get something back for those used books you no longer need.
Back to Questions
Does the bookstore have a website?
The bookstore is open 24 hours a day online. Textbooks and some general merchandise may be purchased online, and either shipped to you or held for pickup. Our address is www.lipscomb.bkstr.com or follow the link at Lipscomb's site, or find us at efollett.com.

How does the bookstore determine the price that's offered?
In a word - need. If we need a book to sell on our own shelves, we offer half of the selling price (try getting that deal on those shoes you bought last August). If we can't use the book here (either we already have all we need, or no professor is using that book next semester (we offer whatever or national wholesaler will give us for the book. Nationwide demand for a book determines what they offer.
Back to Questions
Why are there some books that you don't buy back?
We can't buy book that we know we can't sell. If we can't use a book here at Lipscomb, we turn to our wholesaler and try to buy for them. if a book has no market anywhere in the country (i.e. if the publisher has put out a newer edition) our wholesaler tells us "thanks, but no thanks."
Back to Questions
Why are different prices sometimes offered for the same title?
Here are a couple of things that could cause a difference. 1) New vs. used: We sell books at a 25% discount from new books. Since we pay half of the original price when we need a book, the buyback price will reflect new vs. used. 2) Quantity bought: We have a set number of books that we will need for next semester. Once we are fully stocked, we need no more. Example: Say we need 100 copies of a certain book. The 84th person to sell that book to use will be offered 1/2 of the shelf price and we will put that book on our shelf to sell. The 107th person to sell that book will be offered the wholesale amount, and the book will be boxed up an sent to Chicago.
Back to Questions
When do you buy back books?
The best time to sell back your books is right before and during finals. We buy books back year round, but most of the time we are just buying for the wholesaler. The only time we buy for ourselves is after professors turn in their book adoptions for the upcoming term.
Back to Questions
What do I need to bring with me to sell back a book?
Before any buyback, we are required to see a picture ID; so be sure to bring one with you. We will also need any CD's or other material that came with the book. And oh yes, we will need the book itself :). You do NOT need your cash register receipt (for refunds - yes; for buybacks - no).
Back to Questions
What do I need to do to get my child's books?
During the latter part of the summer (sometime in July) just stop by the Campus Bookstore. At that time, you can pick up all required text and workbooks for a $150.00 rental fee per child. A credit card imprint will also be required as a security deposit (we will make alternate arrangements in the event that a credit care is not available.) to cover charges for books not returned, or returned in unusable condition.
Back to Questions
What is included in the Rental Fee?
The fee will include all required textbooks and workbooks. The following items will not be included: PE Uniforms, notebooks, pens and pencils, calculators, supplies, Bibles, and optional study aids. These items will be available of you wish to purchase them at that time.
Back to Questions
What if a book is lost?
When you pick up your student's books, you will be given a list of the books that will show the replacement costs for each book. That replacement cost is what would be charged for each book that is not returned.
Back to Questions
What happens at the end of the year?
All textbooks will need o be returned to the bookstore at the end of the school year (we set a return deadline of early June; earlier for seniors; call 615-966-1780 for the exact deadline). Any books not returned by that time will be replaced by the bookstore, and the replacement costs will be charged.
