Lipscomb University and Nissan Engineering and Robotics Camps
For every kid who just can’t resist dismantling the toaster, the Lipscomb University/Nissan BisonBot Robotic Summer Camps will be the highlight of their summer. All camps will be held in the new Hughes Center engineering facility on the Lipscomb campus.
***NEW for 2013*** WeeBots Camp
Designed for very young campers with no robotics experience
Dates: July 1–3, 2013
Junior BisonBots Camp
Designed for students' first exposure to a robotics experience
Dates: July 9–12, 2013
Fundamentals BisonBot Robotic Camp
Designed for budding roboteers with little or no experience in robotics
Campers age 10-14 (completed 4th grade) learn basic robotic principles involving electrical circuits, batteries, switches, DC motors, and robotic arm- and hand actuators. They build their own challenging six-degree-of-freedom robotic arm, and even learn how to solder! Fundamentals camp concludes with a robotic competition and reception open to family and friends.
Advanced BisonBot Robotic Camp
Designed for students with some previous robot experience
Robotics Academy
Designed for students with some previous robot experience
This premier robotics experience for students age 13 and above extends the camper's previous knowledge of robotics by introducing them to programming concepts. Both graphical and procedural programming methods are taught, introducing the software engineering concepts of algorithm- and program design, sensor interfacing, basic microprocessor input/output, and variable-speed motor control. Campers receive their own programmable robot and program development environment

BEST Competition
In the fall semester, the Raymond B. Jones College of Engineering and Nissan host Music City BEST, an annual robotics competition that is part of the nation-wide Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology (BEST) Competition. Middle and high school students from across the region design and build a robot to compete with robots from other schools in performing both simple and complex tasks as specified by BEST. If you would like more information on how your school can participate in Music City BEST, contact the College of Engineering at 615.966.6244. You can also learn more by visiting the BEST Competition website. The Best Competition occurs in the fall.
